I first started my accounting journey when I was just seventeen in high school. It was an introductory accounting course learning about assets and liabilities. It was the first subject that held my attention through the semester. I immediately felt like this is something that I could be passionate about. After high school, I knew that I wanted to take a bookkeeping/accounting course so I did just that. I went to Willis College and obtained my bookkeeping/accounting certificate. After working in different businesses, it gave me the confidence and knowledge to start my own business.
After working with Erin Blaskie (erinblaskie.com) for over five years, it gave me the experience and understanding of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. After working in the corporate world for the last five years, I feel like the passion I have for accounting could be better suited to working with individuals like myself; self-starters who love what they do.
I am currently in school part-time as I strongly believe that learning is a process that should last your lifetime. With accounting, it constantly changes and evolves, like businesses, so it’s important to me that I am current in accounting practices.
